The Greener Spaces Better Places Design Award recognises excellence in green urban and space design and was established to help raise awareness and to promote excellence in green design. It celebrates the important role of green and living infrastructure design to our urban areas, to cool our cities, and make our neighbourhoods more appealing to work, play and relax.
The 2021 winner, the Warralily ‘Green Spine’ of Armstrong Creek in Geelong, Victoria, provides a strong framework and corridor for community connectivity to parks, wetlands, environmental areas, schools, community facilities, and retail precincts. The Green Spine has transformed a degraded creek corridor into a thriving ecosystem, significantly improving water quality entering the RAMSAR listed Lake Connewarre.
